What measures would I have to take to make sure I don't get sued? I want to make my own merchandise for my Tottenham Site, like Tottenham Hoddy's t- shirts etc., not fakes just merchandise using my website name and the Tottenham Badge, now the question is could I use the badge? legally? or would I somehow have to alter it slightly?

There's no measure for this. You cannot make any licensed brand of clothing or material under you have permission with Tottenham which will never happen. Sorry
